Thesivor documentation
Install Thesivor, learn the concepts, and follow a guide for every stage of the pipeline.
In short
Thesivor is a local-first desktop app that takes a research idea to a defensible first draft. This site teaches you to install it, set up an AI engine, and finish each stage — boardroom, literature, data, LaTeX, proposal and review.
New here? Start with Install, then Set up an engine. If you want to know why the app works the way it does, read the concepts.
How this documentation is organised
- Getting started — system requirements, installing the unsigned build on macOS, Windows or Linux, the first launch and your first project.
- Concepts — the ideas behind the app: the project record, versions, traces, engines, downloads on demand and per-project Python.
- Guides — one page per task, in the order the pipeline runs.
- Set up AI engines — one page per engine, including the free options and their limits.
- Reference — every setting, keyboard shortcut, the project layout, and where the app stores data.
- Privacy and data — what is stored, what is sent to which engine, and how reviews and keys are handled.
- Troubleshooting — downloads, Python environments, Tectonic, engine errors, and capturing the app's output.
- Support — the platform support table, limitations, FAQ, glossary and changelog.
For technical users
Every page states the date it was last verified, at the bottom. A fact that could not be confirmed is marked TODO(verify) on the page.
The docs site is a standalone Next.js + Fumadocs project (static export, no server, search runs in the browser).
