Getting started

Your first project

Start from an idea, a formed proposal, a dataset or an existing draft — and where the project lives.

In short

A project is a folder on your disk. You can start from a raw idea, a proposal you already wrote, a dataset, or an existing paper draft. Thesivor adds its own files to the folder and never moves or edits the files you already have.

1Describe it or attach it

On Home, type your idea and, if you have them, attach a PDF, a proposal, a CSV or a draft. The app detects a starting point and shows it as a chip you can change before sending.

2Send

Press Start debating. Thesivor creates the project, opens it, and the boardroom begins its intake. If you picked a dataset, the notebook profiles it first and suggests research questions.

3Or open an existing folder

Use the folder button (or the same button inside a project) to make an existing folder the project. If the folder is already a git repository, Thesivor asks once before saving checkpoints into it.

For technical users

A project folder contains: README.md (a managed block Thesivor rewrites, plus anything you write outside the markers), record/ (tracked in git, the durable record), .thesivor/ (a cache, gitignored), papers/, data/, notebooks/, figures/, draft/ and proposal/. See Project layout. Each starting point uses a fixed prompt.
