Data locations
Where the app stores settings, projects, downloads and secrets on each OS.
In short
The app keeps its own data outside your projects: settings, the project registry, downloads and the encrypted key store. The folder is shown in Settings → Projects & data → Data folder.
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| App data folder (macOS) | ~/Library/Application Support/thesivor |
| App data folder (Windows) | %APPDATA%\thesivor — TODO(verify) |
| App data folder (Linux) | ~/.config/thesivor — TODO(verify) |
| Projects | The folders you chose; listed in the app's registry |
| Downloads (Python, Tectonic, models) | Inside the app data folder, under the downloads directory |
| Keys and tokens | The OS secure storage (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, Linux libsecret), never a file |
| Dev builds | thesivor-dev beside the packaged folder, so development never touches real projects |
For technical users
The packaged app uses Electron's userData plus the folder name thesivor; dev builds use thesivor-dev. Only macOS paths have been observed on the build machine; the Windows and Linux paths are Electron's documented defaults plus that folder name and are marked unverified. There is no log file: the app's messages go to the console. See Troubleshooting for capturing output.
