Check traceability and freeze

The traceability check, the waiver, and what freezing does.

In short

Before a version is frozen, Thesivor checks that every AI-written sentence, number, citation and figure traces to a real source. If something does not, it is listed and the freeze is blocked unless you waive it with a recorded reason.

1Run the check

Press Check traceability. It lists AI sentences with no traced claim, traces whose source is gone, numbers not printed by a notebook cell, and placeholders.

2Fix or waive

Fix the listed items in the editor, or press Freeze and record a reason for the waiver. A waiver is written to the project history.

3Freeze

Freeze version writes a read-only snapshot with the compiled PDF and SyncTeX file, and tags it in git in automatic mode.

A traceability pass showing traced spans, a figure reference, and a checklist with grounded sections marked.
Test project, synthetic data. A grounded section shows the traced spans behind it.
For technical users

Traces are stored in record/drafting/<doc>.json (anchor text, context, hash) and re-anchored on edits; nothing is written into the .tex. The check runs before Freeze and blocks unless waived (reason recorded). Frozen blobs are content-addressed and read-only; the manifest is write-once and the SHA is re-checked on every read.
